Statutory Requirements:	Minister may appoint: (a) a person to be the Head of the Council of Official Visitors; and (b) such number of persons as may seem appropriate to be the other official visitors. The official visitors: (a) are to be appointed from amongst the general community; and (b) are not required to have any particular experience or qualifications. However in appointing a person to be an official visitor, the Minister is to have regard to the usefulness of any experience or qualifications that the person may have. A person appointed to be an official visitor holds office for such term, not longer than 3 years, as is specified in the instrument of appointment and, upon the expiration of the term, is eligible for reappointment.
