Statutory Requirements: To establish channels of communication between the Council and rural and remote communities; monitor the extent to which the objectives of the Council’s strategic plan are being met; identify projects appropriate to the implementation of the strategic plan; act as an advocate for rural and remote communities with special regard to:- the educational needs of their children and families; - the technological and human resource needs of their schools; - the needs of the staff who work in their schools; - increasing the range of accessible and affordable post-compulsory education and training options; and - ensuring that education and training provisions are attuned to community and industry needs. To offer advice to the Minister for Education on rural and remote education issues as they arise. To consult rural and remote communities on issues referred to the Council by the Minister.
